Port-Cochére Driveway Project
Summer 2018
This project developed when the client's original driveway underneath her Port-Cochere (carport) was heavily degraded concrete, buckling after years in the freeze and thaw cycles. I tore out the concrete, hand-dug the pit and set a massive 18" deep foundation of crusher run and sand - this won't be going anywhere!

After that, I installed the Reclaimed Street Brick which was taken from the streets of Jamestown and has seen both hoof and wheel, tire and tread - there's lots of history in these beauties! These bricks are beefy and tough but a smooth ride across - a perfect option for a driveway.
Down the middle, I placed the iconic Red Medina Sandstone with custom-cut joints that are tightly fitted together ensuring for overall maximum strength.

The challenging part was making sure that the entire driveway would remain tight and strong. By using the dry-fit method, meaning no mortar or cement, I allow the drive to move and flow with the seasons while still retaining its overall strength.
